DESIGN PROCESS

FACILITY ADMINISTRATOR EXPLORATION

Facility administrators commonly referred to as facility managers come from vast backgrounds. Their user personas typically are based on their daily challenges and motivation.
A facility manager manages facility operations, maintenance, and occupant needs. Their challenges include prioritization, emergency readiness, and budget constraints. And they are motivated by impact, problem-solving, collaboration, and environmental responsibility.

Wants to create an impact on the environment by making the facility eco-friendly and making energy-efficient decisions.

User A
Facility Manager

Wants to prioritize long-term planning for better preparedness and automate alert management so that they can be dealt with as fast as possible.

User C
Facility Manager

Wants tenant satisfaction and requires a streamlined way to manage orders and profiles so that they can resolve issues as fast as possible.

DESIGN PROBLEM

By exploring various competitors already present in the market and going through user reviews of the current apps, it was seen that the UI of the current apps lack a lot in a majority of places:

INFORMATION OVERLOAD

Existing applications overwhelm users with excessive data on a singlescreen, causing analysis paralysis and user confusion.

ENHANCED INTUITIVENESS

The current UI lacks an intuitive design, resulting in user uncertainty while performing basic tasks. Navigation becomes cumbersome and contributes to user frustration.

UNCLUTTERED USER EXPERIENCE

The user interface (UI) is cluttered, leading to a confusing layout. Additionally, the absence of guided onboarding slows the learning process and can intimidate new users.

USER-CENTRIC DESIGN FOCUS

The current UI lacks a well-defined hierarchy, appealing visuals, coherent information flow, and clear categorization.

DESIGN SOLUTION

IMPROVING USER INTERFACE AND EXPERIENCE

INTUITIVE & STREAMLINED UI
  • Design a clean and intuitive user interface that simplifies navigation and promotes ease of use while being visually appealing.
  • Use clear icons, labels, and colour coding to distinguish between different functions and sections.
  • Prioritize the most frequently used features and place them prominently on the interface instead of showing a lot of data.
CLEAR TASK ORGANIZATION
  • Improve task organization by categorizing and labelling tasks clearly, making it easy for users to differentiate between current, scheduled, and completed tasks.
ENHANCED UI & USER CENTRIC DESIGN
  • Redesign the user interface to be more visually appealing and user-friendly, addressing the concerns raised about confusing and unappealing interfaces.
  • Focus on visual hierarchy, consistency, and a logical flow of information to enhance the overall user experience.
By addressing these, the new facilities management application can provide an improved user experience, increased usability, and enhanced functionality for users across various roles and levels of expertise.

DESIGN GOAL

The primary design goal of Eros.io was to create a user-centric and comprehensive solution that revolutionizes facility management. The overarching objective was to address the challenges faced by facility administrators, enhance operational efficiency, and facilitate data-driven decision-making. By weaving together intuitive user experiences, cutting-edge technology, and a deep understanding of user needs, the design aims to elevate facility management.

DESIGN ITERATION

Modern UI

Customizable Insights

Integrated filter options and date ranges to enable users to tailor data analysis to their specific needs.

Progress Tracking

Introduced a real-time progress tracker, allowing users to monitor the status of reported issues and upcoming resolutions.

Intuitive Calendar View

Designed an intuitive calendar view for scheduling routine maintenance tasks and alarms.

Task Management

Designed a user-friendly interface for creating, editing, and rescheduling routine maintenance tasks, promoting efficient management.

Centralized Database

Established a centralized repository to store comprehensive profiles of employees, contractors, and vendors along with their availability.

Collaborative Workspace:

Enhanced the profile management feature to enable direct communication and collaboration with personnel within the system.

Energy Insights & Cost Analysis
